After-School Youth Karate
School kids, ages 7-13 in our AFTER SCHOOL Next Generation Karate Program are having a blast every day after
school, while learning valuable skills they will use for the rest of their lives!
With free bus delivery from West Plains R7 schools, this great program is the answer to many working parent’s prayers.
You want your child to be learning the right values and skills, but don’t always have the time. But with this convenient
program, all of this gets done before you ever get off work. When you pick your child up from Karate between 5:00 and
5:30 p.m. they have had a snack, finished their homework, had their Karate lesson, and they are waiting to be picked
up. Nothing could be easier.
We work with parents when they need extra help dealing with behavior problems. Additionally, we work with teachers
when they need it. Maybe there have been late assignments turned in, or other negative things that can happen
throughout a school year. This keeps parents, school, and Karate all on the same page and working together for the
benefit of everyone.
Watch your child’s confidence soar as they learn new things, build their balance and coordination, and earn their
stripes and belts. Unlike a team sport, they will achieve on their own. They will earn their belts based on their skills,
progress, and hard work and they will do it on their own with the help of our staff. Our instructors & black belts are
there to help your children develop confidence through the program, which will enable them to fend off bullying, say NO
to drugs and other negative peer pressure, and feel comfortable that they can defend themselves if necessary.

Martial arts begin and end with RESPECT…
Parents need all the help they can get in today’s world reinforcing
the concepts of respectfulness and good manners. Our students
are taught from Day One that respect is the first rule of martial arts
and we demand that they demonstrate inside and outside of the
dojo. You will see how our students respond and speak to their
instructors by saying “Yes, sir” or “Yes, Ma’am” and how we teach
them the concept of obeying cheerfully. If their respect level outside
of the karate school is not proper we may delay rank testing or even
take a belt away for a week. Master Jhoon Rhee once said that
without respect karate is just street fighting. We take respect
seriously here at Family Karate without creating a military school
atmosphere.
Wait until you see that report card…
Practicing karate will also help develop better concentration which
can lead to better grades in school. The focus and concentration that
it takes a child to earn a new belt will invariably transfer to their
schoolwork. Many doctors, teachers, and school administrators
recommend the martial arts for children that have ADD, ADHD, or
other issues with focus. Karate is not amagic bullet, but over time
it does help!
It’s easy to get started…
Just give us a call and set up a time to visit our school. If it’s during the school year,
we are normally pretty full to capacity, but occasionally people move out of the area,
or switch to the evening Karate program and that will leave an opening for someone.
The best way to ensure that you have a spot reserved for your child is to let us know
during the summer vacation that you’re interested. We normally book full by the end of
July, so don’t wait to get your spot reserved. With all the previous year’s students returning
each year, we normally have room for 7-9 new students each year.
Call us at 417-256-4290 to find out more about the After-School Program, or go to the Contact Us page and fill it out
completely so that we can get back to you promptly.
