Midwest Connection - Indianapolis, Indiana May 16, 17 & 18, 2008
Mr. Mann has been invited to attend the Okinawan-Midwest Connection Shorinkan Camp for traditional karate for the
second year. Kyoshi Bethea of Kokomo Indiana is hosting a three day camp, which will include training with many of the
North American Kyoshi Kai. This event will benefit our traditional karate programs, as well as our relations with the
Shorinkan association.
DONIPHAN, MO KARATE TOURNAMENT - June 14th, 2008
Skip Johnson is hosting a invitational Karate Tournament at the Doniphan High School. Starts at 10 a.m.

To help promote the 2008 Session of After School Karate, Mr. Mann and members of Team Next Generation are going to
give a Karate demonstration to all the Summer School kids at WP Elementary.
Open Fight Night and Judging Seminar - Osborn's School of TKD, Springfield, MO - June 23, 2008
Grandmaster Richard Osborn is hosting a free open fight for all adult Brown and Black Belts. Food is provided, and after
the fight night, we will do review of judging criteria for the MMASC tournament circuit. Dont miss this event, with over 30
black belts in attendance.
Top Mount M.A. - Sport Karate Sparring Seminar - July 10th, 2008
Grandmaster Richard Osborn and Master Steve Irby will be visiting our dojo to hold a sparring tips and tricks seminar. This
is open to all students (youth or adult) who are interested in sport karate sparring. The Osborn's are a great Karate family
who run a top notch organization. They are ambassadors for the sport, and are true Martial Artists. Come out and have a
great time and train with us!
Top Mount Martial Arts - After School Program Starts - August 20th, 2008
This June 20th kicks off the second year for the TMMA After School Program! Ride the bus from school Monday through

Top Mount M.A. - Lil' Dragon (Fall Class 1) Kick Off - September 2nd, 2008
This 6 week program is for children ages 4-6 who are interested in Martial Arts. Parents will have a chance to see their
child learn basic karate, life skills, and safety skills along the way. This is a twice per week class, each Tuesday and
Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Each child receives a certificate of completion and a new belt at the end of the 6 weeks.
This course is offered once each spring, and once each fall - to help prepare the Lil' Dragons for entry into the Next

"MIDWEST RUMBLE" karate tournament! Hosted by Ken Franck. Held at the Boys & Girls Club at 1410 N. Freemont

Top Mount Martial Arts Fall Family Picnic - West Plains MO - September 28th, 1 to 5 p.m.
Students and family are invited to a family style pot-luck picnic with games, good food, and good fellowship. Buck park is
the location. This is the second big picnic this year, and this one will be even better than the last. Grilled food, fish fry, and
friends... what more could you ask for?! See you there.
Top Mount M.A. - Lil' Dragon (Fall Class 1) Graduation Night - October 9th, 2008
This is the grand finale of the 6 week program for children ages 4-6 who participated in the Lil' Dragon program that started
9/2. Families and friends of our Lil' Dragons are invited to attend and see them receive their colored belt, and rank
certificate of participation. Graduation will start at 6:30 p.m. and will last 30-45 minutes.

Mr. Mann has again been invited to Sensei's home dojo to train with Kyoshi Bethea. It's an honor to be invited to get to
train with one of the original first generation students of Nakazato Sensei. Sensei Copp from St. Louis will be joining Mr.
Mann on this trip, which promises to be a great experience.
West Plains Annual Christmas Parade - December 13th, 2008
Top Mount Martial Arts' students and instructors will be sponsoring a float in the Christmas parade. We meet at Top Mount
at 9:00 a.m. for cookies and hot chocolate. We will drive to the staging area for the parade at 10:45 a.m. Parade is set to
start at 1 p.m. Everyone come out and support our school.
Top Mount Martial Arts - Christmas Dinner - December 15th, 2008
Top Mount is having the annual Christmas dinner at the West Plains Elementary Cafeteria. Bring your family for a night of
good food (Baked hams and all the fixins), friends, and fun. We will be showing the 2008 Digital Yearbook with pictures of
all that has happened this year. Dont miss this!

Branson Juijitsu Seminar - Mid-America Mixed Martial Arts, Branson MO - February 7th, 2009
One of Sifu Wilhelm's senior students and top MMA fighters will be featured in this Juijitsu seminar, hosted by Sifu Wilhelm
in their dojo in Branson. Cost is $40, and open to Top Mount Martial Arts Students. Please see the sign up list on the

Mr. Mann has again been invited to Sensei's home dojo to train with Kyoshi Bethea. It's an honor to be invited to get to

Mann on this trip, which will of course be another great learning experience.
MMASC ANNUAL BANQUET - Springfield, MO - February 27th, 2009
This awards banquet is certainly a sight to see. This is a coat and tie event, with an awesome buffet for attendees, door
prizes, demonstrations, awards, slide shows, and great fellowship with the best Sport Karate organization around.
Thousands of dollars worth of prizes are given to the kids who participated in the tournaments throughout the year. Bikes,
TV's, and more were given away in 2008, what will this year hold? The banquet is held at the Oasis Inn and Convention

"Missouri Nationals Open" - Double points tournament! MMASC members get double points for this first event of the year.
Held at the Oasis Inn and Convention Center. Free after party. Hosted by Richard Osborn Sr. Once again, Grappling and
Karate Flag will be featured along with the traditional events!
St. Louis Shorinkan Camp - 2009. March 6th & 7th, 2009.
Mr. Mann and students have again been invited to Sensei Copp's annual Shorinkan Camp, at St. Lukes in St. Louis.
Sensei Bethea and some of his senior Black Belts will be on hand to share Shorinkan techniques, as well as other
instructors who will feature instruction on; Mixed Martial Arts / Grappling, Judo, Weapons, Pressure Points, and more.
Camp fee and hotel information is available through Mr. or Mrs. Mann. Please register early for this event, as it's going to
be even larger than last year! Hosted by Sensei Copp, Nanadan.
Ozark Mountain Karate Assn Tournament - Doniphan MO - March 7th, 2009
Mr. Johnson is hosting another OMKA karate tournament in Doniphan Missouri. These tournaments are always lots of
good fun, over in the Ozark Hills! This will be at the Doniphan High School. See Mr. Mann for registration form!

"Spring Fling" Karate Tournament! Held at the Oasis Inn in Springfield, MO. Hosted by the promoters of the MMASC. All
proceeds from this event will go into the MMASC for prizes and awards for the competitors. Come out and support this
event that does so much to help the tournament participants.

TOP MOUNT MARTIAL ARTS FAMILY FUN NIGHT - West Plains MO - May 28th, 2009 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Family FUN Night will be held Thursday night, May 28th, in place of normal youth classes. This family night is called the
Chanbara Challenge. Come out and challenge another student, your parents, or anyone you choose to a Chanbara (foam
sword) match, to help raise money for the tournament fund raiser. Parents can even challenge their kids, or parents can
challenge other parents! Challenges have been issued and we are excited to see who comes out on top! We will be
grilling hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fixins! Come out and have a blast with your Top Mount family!

"MAKE A WISH" BENEFIT KARATE TOURNAMENT - Doniphan MO - June 6th, 2009
All proceeds from this charity event will be donated to "The Make a Wish Foundation". Hosted by Master Skip Johnson, this
event is for a wonderful cause, and will be lots of fun for all who attend. Master Johnson donates a tremendous amount of
his time to helping under-privileged families in the Ripley County area, and this tournament further shows his commitment to
helping others. Come out and support this charity tournament.
U.S.T.M.A. KARATE TOURNAMENT - West Plains MO - June 13th, 2009
This first ever tournament for the newly formed U.S.T.M.A. will be a great local event, right in the backyard of the Top Mount
Martial Arts dojo. Held at the West Plains Civic Center, and open to Top Mount Students, this will be another great
opportunity for two of the leading Karate Schools in Howell County to work together to promote Martial Arts and unity

atrium right after the tournament which is hosted by Sensei Mann and Master Osborn.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Seminar November 28th, 2009
Master Scott Carroll is holding a grappling seminar in West Plains Missouri, at our dojo that is open to all grapplers. Master
Carroll is a 5th degree black belt and is a very accomplished grappler who is visiting from Colorado to provide this seminar
to the students at Top Mount.
Ultimate Weapons - test night for the Sai - December 3rd, 2009
All students will be testing on the Sai Kata, Nakaima Kenkou Sensei No Sai Dai Ichi No Kata. Normal class time. Good luck!!

Ultimate Weapons "IN HOUSE" Weapons Tournament - December 10th, 2009 - At the dojo
We are doing a "mock tournament" for weapons students during regular class time. Any student can participate using any
weapon they have learned. This is a FREE EVENT. Members of Team Next Generation will judge.
West Plains Christmas Parade - December 12th, 2009
As always, we will have a float for the kids to ride. We will meet at the dojo at 9:30 a.m. for our customary hot chocolate and
cookies. We will be sending the float over empty this year at 10:30 a.m. We will hang out at the dojo until about noon, and
head over to get on our float. Parade is at 1 p.m. Watch your email for more details to follow.
Top Mount Martial Arts Christmas Dinner - December 14th, 2009 6 p.m.
We have our annual dojo Christmas dinner on Monday 12/14. West Plains Elementary School from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Awards
to be given, along with year-end slide show, buffet dinner, and karate demonstrations for everyone's entertainment. Dont

We are starting a new weapon in Ultimate Weapons on Thursday January 7th. Please get signed up for this if you are
interested in some traditional kobudo training. Our new kata is a traditional Okinawan Tonfa called Shugoro No Tonfa.

This 6 week program is for children ages 4-6 who are interested in Martial Arts. Parents will have a chance to see their
child learn basic karate, life skills, and safety skills along the way. This is a twice per week class, each Tuesday and
Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Each child receives a certificate of completion and a new belt at the end of the 6 weeks.
This course is offered once each spring, and once each fall - to help prepare the Lil' Dragons for entry into the Next

Top Mount Martial Arts Fall Family Picnic - West Plains MO - September 28th, 1 to 5 p.m.
Students and family are invited to a family style pot-luck picnic with games, good food, and good fellowship. Buck park is
the location. This is the second big picnic this year, and this one will be even better than the last. Grilled food, fish fry, and

This is the grand finale of the 6 week program for children ages 4-6 who participated in the Lil' Dragon program that started
9/2. Families and friends of our Lil' Dragons are invited to attend and see them receive their colored belt, and rank
certificate of participation. Graduation will start at 6:30 p.m. and will last 30-45 minutes.
Top Mount M.A. - Sport Karate Sparring Seminar - October 9th, 2008 (5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.)
Grandmaster Richard Osborn and Master Steve Irby will be again visiting our dojo to hold a sparring tips and tricks seminar.
This is open to all students (youth or adult) who are interested in sport karate sparring and improving their tournament
sparring skills.

Mr. Mann has again been invited to Sensei's home dojo to train with Kyoshi Bethea. It's an honor to be invited to get to
train with one of the original first generation students of Nakazato Sensei. Sensei Copp from St. Louis will be joining Mr.
Mann on this trip, which promises to be a great experience.
West Plains Annual Christmas Parade - December 13th, 2008
Top Mount Martial Arts' students and instructors will be sponsoring a float in the Christmas parade. We meet at Top Mount
at 9:00 a.m. for cookies and hot chocolate. We will drive to the staging area for the parade at 10:45 a.m. Parade is set to
start at 1 p.m. Everyone come out and support our school.
Top Mount Martial Arts - Christmas Dinner - December 15th, 2008
Top Mount is having the annual Christmas dinner at the West Plains Elementary Cafeteria. Bring your family for a night of
good food (Baked hams and all the fixins), friends, and fun. We will be showing the 2008 Digital Yearbook with pictures of

Open Fight Night and Judging Seminar - Osborn's School of TKD, Springfield, MO - January 17th, 2009
Grandmaster Richard Osborn is hosting a free open fight for all adult Brown and Black Belts. Food is provided, and after
the fight night, we will do review of judging criteria for the MMASC tournament circuit. (Update - this event was amazing,

This awards banquet is certainly a sight to see. This is a coat and tie event, with an awesome buffet for attendees, door
prizes, demonstrations, awards, slide shows, and great fellowship with the best Sport Karate organization around.
Thousands of dollars worth of prizes are given to the kids who participated in the tournaments throughout the year. Bikes,
TV's, and more were given away in 2008, what will this year hold? The banquet is held at the Oasis Inn and Convention

St. Louis Shorinkan Camp - 2009. March 6th & 7th, 2009.
Mr. Mann and students have again been invited to Sensei Copp's annual Shorinkan Camp, at St. Lukes in St. Louis.
Sensei Bethea and some of his senior Black Belts will be on hand to share Shorinkan techniques, as well as other
instructors who will feature instruction on; Mixed Martial Arts / Grappling, Judo, Weapons, Pressure Points, and more.
Camp fee and hotel information is available through Mr. or Mrs. Mann. Please register early for this event, as it's going to

Ozark Mountain Karate Assn Tournament - Doniphan MO - March 7th, 2009
Mr. Johnson is hosting another OMKA karate tournament in Doniphan Missouri. These tournaments are always lots of

"Spring Fling" Karate Tournament! Held at the Oasis Inn in Springfield, MO. Hosted by the promoters of the MMASC. All
proceeds from this event will go into the MMASC for prizes and awards for the competitors. Come out and support this

Midwest Connection - Indianapolis, Indiana May 15, 16 & 17 - 2009
Mr. Mann has again been invited to attend the Okinawan-Midwest Connection Shorinkan Camp for traditional karate for the
third year. Kyoshi Bethea of Kokomo Indiana is hosting a three day camp, which will include training with many of the North
American Kyoshi Kai. This event will benefit our traditional karate programs, as well as our relations with the Shorinkan
association.

The "SHOW-ME CHALLENGE" karate tournament will be right here in West Plains! This first ever M.M.A.S.C. Tournament

Family FUN Night will be held Thursday night, May 28th, in place of normal youth classes. This family night is called the
Chanbara Challenge. Come out and challenge another student, your parents, or anyone you choose to a Chanbara (foam
sword) match, to help raise money for the tournament fund raiser. Parents can even challenge their kids, or parents can
challenge other parents! Challenges have been issued and we are excited to see who comes out on top! We will be

All proceeds from this charity event will be donated to "The Make a Wish Foundation". Hosted by Master Skip Johnson, this
event is for a wonderful cause, and will be lots of fun for all who attend. Master Johnson donates a tremendous amount of
his time to helping under-privileged families in the Ripley County area, and this tournament further shows his commitment to

This first ever tournament for the newly formed U.S.T.M.A. will be a great local event, right in the backyard of the Top Mount

Master Scott Carroll is holding a grappling seminar in West Plains Missouri, at our dojo that is open to all grapplers. Master
Carroll is a 5th degree black belt and is a very accomplished grappler who is visiting from Colorado to provide this seminar
to the students at Top Mount.
Ultimate Weapons - test night for the Sai - December 3rd, 2009

Ultimate Weapons "IN HOUSE" Weapons Tournament - December 10th, 2009 - At the dojo
We are doing a "mock tournament" for weapons students during regular class time. Any student can participate using any
weapon they have learned. This is a FREE EVENT. Members of Team Next Generation will judge.
West Plains Christmas Parade - December 12th, 2009
As always, we will have a float for the kids to ride. We will meet at the dojo at 9:30 a.m. for our customary hot chocolate and
cookies. We will be sending the float over empty this year at 10:30 a.m. We will hang out at the dojo until about noon, and
head over to get on our float. Parade is at 1 p.m. Watch your email for more details to follow.
Top Mount Martial Arts Christmas Dinner - December 14th, 2009 6 p.m.
We have our annual dojo Christmas dinner on Monday 12/14. West Plains Elementary School from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Awards

We are starting a new weapon in Ultimate Weapons on Thursday January 7th. Please get signed up for this if you are
