Top Mount Martial Arts, LLC is a positive environment that is enjoyed by many families. We take pride in the fact that our dojo is a place where the whole family can come together to learn & have a good time. Of the 80+ families who are involved with the activities and programs at Top Mount Martial Arts LLC, more than 50% have more than one family member training in our programs. At Top Mount Martial Arts, youth students and adult students alike train in the same traditional curriculum. This has been found to be a real benefit when mom or dad want to spend time with the kids working on their karate or kata together. Many parents have commented that this gives them even more quality time with their children & that it helps everyone by learning the same thing, taught by the same instructor, in the same way. Mom and dad can help the kids when they need it, and in some cases - the other way around! Teaching the same Karate to both young students and adults not only helps them learn, but makes the transition to the adult class seamless when the younger students reach the age that they change from the youth to the adult program. Although we offer more than just traditional karate, traditional karate is the cornerstone of our martial arts & it is why we are who we are. The foundation of the martial arts is well in tact at our dojo & gets better every day. Our traditional system of Shorin-Ryu is one of the original karate styles formally systematized in Okinawa and considered by some to have had the most influential impact on the development of modern karate systems. Having an instructor whose rank is recognized by an organization with such deep roots, you know that you and your family are earning real rank in a real system. One that is being taught the same way in hundreds of dojos around the world, the same way it has been taught for the last 100+ years. Several times each year, members of the Shorin Ryu Shorinkan organization get together and enjoy each other's company at training camps, while making certain that the karate being taught at each location is still the same, and regularly updated/corrected by Kyoshi and Hanshi leaders of the organization. The Martial Arts always begins and ends with courtesy, and with this as the primary focus during all lessons being taught at Top Mount Martial Arts LLC, the end result is an excellent family activity that can be shared for years and passed down for generations. This courtesy and respect will carry with these traditional karate students for life. Top Mount Martial Arts LLC is located conveniently in Downtown West Plains, near Court Square and the Civic Center. Our 3,200 square foot gym features over 2,000 square feet of mat space, with seating for up to 50 visitors & spectators. We offer boys and girls separate changing rooms, and a separate restroom so there is never a long line to wait in for any reason. Most parents stay and watch the lessons, but with the convenient location and parking - other parents take advantage of some nights to get caught up on errands.
